RELATIVES AS PARENTS PROGRAM: Are you raising other relatives’ children? Funds are available for once-a-year assistance for a wide range of needs to help relatives who are raising other relatives’ children. Please call to inquire on how to apply. The public is also invited to our monthly support group for Relative Parents, where you can come and meet other families and learn about important resources that may be available to you. The December Relatives As Parents Support Group meeting/potluck will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 4 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at Washington Elementary School, 3003 Cherry St. in Hoquiam. They will provide the main-dish and welcome your participation. If able, please bring a side-dish. Activities for the kids will include open gym and Christmas cookie decorating. SMILES FOR LIFE: New Affordable Preventive Oral Health Program is here in Aberdeen known as the Senior Center Dental Access Program. This new program gives you tips on how to keep your teeth for a lifetime. Clinics are usually the first &third Thurs. of the month. The services provided are Dental Assessment (including oral cancer screening), Dental Cleanings (routine and periodontal), Fluoride Applications, Oral Health Education and Referrals to Dental and Medical Providers. These are provided at no or low cost. Find out if you are eligible for Grant Funding. Also Medicaid Insurance, Private Dental Insurance and Fee for Service accepted. HARBORS HOME HEALTH &HOSPICE MEMORIAL: The 21st annual Hospice Memorial Gathering takes place on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at the Hoquiam Elks, 624 K Street, starting at 6:00 p.m. The Hospice staff invites community members to our memorial service honoring hospice patients and community member who died this past year.

PARKINSON’S SUPPORT GROUP: Which meets the last Tuesday of the month from 6 to 7 p.m., at the Hoquiam Library downstairs meeting room, 420 7th St. will not be meeting in the month of December. For more information, call Betsy Seidel at 360-533-5968.

WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF VETERAN’S AFFAIRS: The Department has a new VA Representative, Dan Henderson, who comes to Grays Harbor once a week. His office is located at Work Source on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For further information call 538-2364.

GRAYS HARBOR BRAIN INJURY SUPPORT GROUP: This group meets from noon – 2 p.m. every Thursday, downstairs at the Hoquiam Library, 420 7th Street. For more information contact Barb 360-281-5332.

BLOOD PRESSURE CLINICS: There will be free blood pressure clinics at the Aberdeen Senior Center, 117 E. 3rd. St., the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 11:30 a.m. until approximately noon. The Elma Senior Center offers free blood pressure checks from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Also, Emeritus at Harbour Pointe Shores in Ocean Shores will do free Blood Pressure Checks from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7 days a week, at 1020 Catala Ave SE. Call (360) 289-9663 for more information.

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP: Are you grieving, and having feelings of sorrow, remorse, depression or just do not know what you are feeling after the death of a loved one? You are invited to please join the group discussion sponsored by Harbors Home Health and Hospice. The group meets at the Hoquiam Library, 420 7th St., 3 to 4:30 p.m. every Tuesday. HOME CARE REFERRAL REGISTRY: The Home Care Referral Registry serves consumers/clients receiving in-home care services through the Department of Social and Health Services or those on the COPES (Community Options Program Entry System) program. They are also helping clients receiving services through the Division of Developmental Disabilities find the right Individual Provider. The Referral Registry matches pre-qualified, pre-screened, individual providers with Medicaid eligible clients who need in-home care services.
