Former Aberdeen resident Brian Ford and Serena Ding, formerly of Shanghai, China were married Dec. 31, 2013 in Shanghai.
The groom is the son of Mark and Sharon Ford of Aberdeen, and his parents flew to China for the ceremony. Brian graduated from Aberdeen High School in 2005 and from Saint Martin’s University in Olympia in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He will graduate in May with his master’s degree in business administration from Michigan State University, Eli Broad Graduate School of Management in Lansing, Mich. He will begin his career with Exxon Mobil Downstream Controller.
The bride is the daughter of Ying Ding and Hongping Shi of Shanghai. She graduated from Saint Martin’s University in Olympia with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2011. She is currently pursuing a master of human resources and labor relations degree at Michigan State University and will spend her summer interning with Procter &Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The groom’s parents hosted a reception for the newlyweds in Olympia on March 1 and the bride’s parents traveled from Shanghai to attend.
