Gary and Barbara Roble of Montesano celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February.
Gary Roble and Barbara Pirch met on a blind date when he was serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and she was a student at Santa Ana College. Fifteen months later, on Feb. 8, 1964, they were married at the United Lutheran Church in Santa Ana, Calif.
Gary worked at ITT Rayonier’s vanillin plant until it closed, then worked for Simpson Door Co., retiring in 2005.
Barbara was a teller at First Interstate Bank and then accepted a position at the Housing Authority of Grays Harbor, retiring in 2011.
They have two children, Michael and Wyatte, and three grandchildren, all Montesano residents.
The couple will celebrate their golden anniversary this summer at their “River Camp” on the Wynooche River.
