Arts and Entertainment Briefs for Dec. 26, 2013

“Viva Las Vegas”

The 7th St. Theatre’s Classic Film Series will feature the movie “Viva Las Vegas” on Jan. 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The movie itself offers a step up from what had become, by his 15th film, an Elvis formula of wealthy playboy in an exotic setting surrounded by willing women. “Viva Las Vegas” has Elvis as a struggling race car driver who must compete (off-track) with his beautiful co-star to win her attention. And, on the heels of her breakthrough performance in the previous year’s smash musical hit, “Bye Bye Birdie,” Ann-Margret’s singing and dancing are a great match for the King’s talents.

The 7th Street Theatre is located at 313 7th St. in Hoquiam. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door. Advance tickets are available at Harbor Drug and at For more info, visit or call 360-537-7400.
