The Port of Grays Harbor Commissioners on Tuesday approved a 1 percent increase to pay ranges for Port employees who are not represented by bargaining units.
That encompasses most administrative staff from the deputy executive director down, as well as the staff at Satsop Business Park and the Westport Marina.
“I want to make sure our salary ranges don’t stay stagnant. They need to move with the market,” Finance Director Mary Nelson said.
To keep competitive, Nelson said she calculates pay ranges each year using 85 percent of the Seattle-area Consumer Price Index.
With the increase, the range of pay for administrative assistants would be from $34,373 to $48,122. The range increase applies to current employees but doesn’t change anyone’s current compensation, Nelson said. When raises are negotiated, the employees will benefit from a higher ceiling on their wages.
