Hoquiam has seven block parties scheduled as part of the annual National Night out, sponsored by the Hoquiam Police Department.
National Night Out is an informal, community-based event held across the country on Aug. 5 to help neighbors get to know each other better.
“Neighbors who know each other tend to look out for each other,” Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myers said. “Strong neighborhoods make for safe communities.”
Parties have been registered so far at: 914 Maple Street, Elk’s Lodge at 624 K Street, Channel Point Village, 408 J Street, 1420 Marion Street, 2641 Pacific Avenue and 330 Eklund Avenue.
All hosted block parties will receive give-away items from the police department and a visit from police, fire and city officials during the night. To host a block party in Hoquiam, call Tracy Wood at 538-3970 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
