A 71-year-old Aberdeen woman remained in serious condition Tuesday afternoon at Harborview Medical Center after being struck by a school bus in downtown Montesano.
The woman was crossing the street in Montesano at Pioneer Avenue and River Street. Police and fire departments were dispatched to Pioneer Avenue and River Street at about 12:05 p.m. There were no children on the bus at the time. Police Chief Brett Vance says the case remains under investigation.
The woman was initially transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital, but she was then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle due to the extent of her injuries.
The driver was identified by a Montesano Police officer as only as “a senior driver that has been there for quite a while.”
