A 29-year-old man accused of having sex with a then-14-year-old girl in 2005 appeared in Grays Harbor Superior Court Monday.
Peter C. Morrill, formerly of Montesano, pleaded not guilty to third-degree child rape.
He’s accused of having sex with the teen in a Central Park home. After that, according to court documents, he joined the Navy and moved around the country for several years.
Since leaving the Navy, Morrill has been living in California attending college. He was recently arrested in a federal warrant sweep.
Morrill and his attorney, Erik Kupka, asked that he be allowed to return to California to finish his last two semesters at San Diego State University.
Judge Dave Edwards denied his request, but said if the charge is still pending in July when the summer term begins, he would re-consider.
