The construction class at Aberdeen High School got into the holiday spirit this month.
Students spent about three weeks designing and building wooden toys for preschool students at Robert Gray Elementary.
Teacher Cory Martinsen said it was the first time his classes have done this project, with each student making two toys from scrap wood.
“They jumped on board right away and they were really excited,” Martinsen said.
“They did an awesome job researching their projects and drawing their proposals. I was really impressed with their work throughout the whole process.”
The toy makers personally delivered the toys, ranging from small trucks to elaborate wooden tops, to the kids Dec. 19.
“It was really exciting, the students really enjoyed it,” he said.
