Aberdeen police investigating report of attempted abduction

Aberdeen police say a 10-year-old girl reported Wednesday afternoon that a man grabbed her and told her to go with him then ran away when she yelled and hit him.

Police say they were called to the 500 block of west Huntley Street at 3:54 p.m.

The suspect was described as a white male, 5-5 to 5-7, with long, oily blond hair and a slim build. He was described as wearing a black coat and blue jeans with rips in them, and sandals with blue socks.

Investigating officers were told that the victim and her brother stepped off the school bus near their home. The victim reported going to the mail box. At that time she said an unknown man grabbed her and told her to go with him. The victim said she yelled and hit the man and that the suspect fled the area on foot.

A tracking dog was used and the area was canvassed by police and the school bus driver was interviewed, but the suspect was not located.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Aberdeen Police Department at 533-3180 or the Tip Line at 538-4450.
