Aberdeen Police respond to New Year’s incidents

Early into the new year, the Aberdeen Police Department responded to two incidents.

At about 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, Aberdeen police responded to a fight at The Best Night Inn on South Boone Street, formerly the Nordic Inn, with the assistance of the Hoquiam Police Department.

Officers learned a stabbing had occurred during the confrontation. A 27-year-old man was treated for head and neck wounds at Grays Harbor Community Hospital before being treated and released.

At about 5:50 a.m., Aberdeen police responded to an apartment complex where a man allegedly pointed a handgun at several people and threatened to shoot them. Partygoers were able to wrestle the handgun away from the 22-year-old and detain him until officers arrived.

He was arrested for an outstanding warrant, felony assault and illegal possession of a firearm.

The investigations in both cases are ongoing.
