A 63-year-old Gig Harbor man is charged with assault after allegedly swerving into oncoming traffic and causing a head-on crash.
Steven K. Tomita pleaded not guilty Monday in Grays Harbor Superior Court to three counts of second-degree assault.
He’s accused of driving his car into the oncoming lane on State Route 109 near the Humptulips River Bridge on Sept. 7, 2013. According to court documents, the responding deputy reported Tomita told him he had intentionally crossed the center line and caused the crash.
Tomita is charged with assaulting his passenger and the two people in the other car.
He is held in Grays Harbor County Jail with $100,000 bail.
