A fisherman was medically evacuated from a vessel 30 miles west of Grays Harbor last night, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor received a call from the Shirley R at 7:13 p.m. Wednesday asking for a medevac for a crew member who had suffered a head injury after a fall on board.
A 47-foot Motor Life Boat responded from Station Grays Harbor along with a helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria, which arrived at the ship at about 8:30 p.m.
The man was taken to Bowerman Airport in Hoquiam, where an ambulance was waiting to bring him to Grays Harbor Community Hospital. The Coast Guard reported the man was in stable condition at that time.
