Stafford Creek Corrections Center was placed on lockdown Thursday evening after four fights involving 21 offenders. One of the offenders is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, according to a press release from the prison.
The other offenders who participated in the fights will remain in segregation while the incidents are investigated.
The first fight occurred at about 4:30 p.m. in the day room of one of the facility’s medium-custody units. Three other fights occurred a short time later — one in the same unit, another in a different medium-custody unit and another in a minimum-custody unit.
Stafford Creek staff found one homemade weapon at the scene of the first fight.
Prison administrators placed the facility on lockdown immediately following the fights.
All visiting and volunteer programs at Stafford Creek Corrections Center have been cancelled until Monday, Feb. 24.
