An intermittent road closure has been implemented on the Pacific Ranger District of the Olympic National Forest. The closure is a safety precaution during timber harvest operations on the Hum T timber sale, officials said.
The closure will occur on Forest Service Road 2204 from milepost 3 to 7.
The road is narrow with limited turn around areas. There will not be sufficient room for safe public access once the timber purchaser positions heavy machinery and log decks in the road.
Closures will be at irregular intervals from Monday through Friday only. The road will remain open on weekends. During the week, the road may be closed entirely, blocked for up to an hour at a time, or open, depending on the purchaser’s activities. This closure will be lifted as soon as timber harvesting is complete and the purchaser’s machinery has been removed from the area, which should be sometime around June 1.
