The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced maintenance dredging for Grays Harbor will start March 28.
The first dredge will work around the clock through April 16, dredging the harbor entrance, Point Chehalis and South Reach channels. It will place its dredged materials at the Point Chehalis and South Jetty open water disposal sites and at Half Moon Bay to nourish the shoreline.
A second dredge is scheduled to arrive April 5, working through May 5 to dredge the Grays Harbor bar and entrace, as well as the Point Chehalis reaches. It will dispose of its dredged materials at the South Beach and Point Chehalis sites.
The Corps expects to remove about one million cubic yards of material.
The Port of Grays Harbor recently completed annual maintenance dredging of its marine terminals, removing more than 190,000 cubic yards of material.
