On Oct.18, HAVA (Harbor Association of Volunteers for Animals) is planning its first Dogs’ Day Out event. It will be a celebration of our best friends and all they contribute to our lives.
A main part of the event will be a 3K Run/Walk called the Doggy Dash. Dogs’ Day Out will be held at South Fork Park in Raymond, adjacent to the Carriage Museum. The race will start at the trail there and go to Pedigree Catamarans and back.
Like many other rescue groups sponsoring Doggy Dashes, a major component of the race will include fundraising by participants for Harry’s House, HAVA’s no-kill shelter in Raymond that serves North Pacific County and the South Beach. The top three fundraisers will win prizes.
In addition, there will be a Top Dawg Competition with a lot of fun events for our dog buddies. Think…Best Tail, Best Old Timer, Best Catcher, Best Kisser…the list goes on.
HAVA is also going to invite a variety of vendors, including restaurants in the area and stores that sell pet supplies, as well as non-pet related folks. The goal is to get as many people as possible involved in HAVA and to raise money for shelter operations.
HAVA volunteers are in the midst of planning this event, but need more help.
