Grays Harbor PUD has a new communications and government relations director, with Ian Cope starting the job Monday.
The Washington State University graduate has worked in the community for several years. He worked for Grays Harbor Radio from 1999 until 2011, and then worked in public relations for local Sens. Jim Hargrove and Brian Hatfield.
Cope will help the PUD shape its public image and work with local, state and federal governments. His annual salary was set at $72,996.
“I look forward to learning about what this great organization does,” Cope said.
PUD staff and commissioners said they’re glad to have Cope on board — they’re already coming up with a lengthy list of projects and duties for him.
“It’s a valuable position to the district, and were happy that (Cope) chose us,” said Commission President Russ Skolrood.
