Congressman Derek Kilmer will host a reception at the Tacoma Art Museum April 17 to recognize the artwork submitted by local high school students during the annual Congressional Art Competition. Students, parents and members of the community are all welcome to attend.
The reception will begin at 6 p.m. at the museum, located at 1701 Pacific Ave. in Tacoma.
The Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide high school visual art contest held every year to recognize and support young artists across the nation. Students submit entries to their representative’s office and panels of judges in each district select the winning entries. The top artist receives round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C., where they will attend a national awards reception with Congressman Kilmer.
