Librarian honored by Daughters of the American Revolution

The Robert Gray chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored Mary Thornton, of Hoquiam, for the chapter’s Women in American History award at a March 6 meeting.

Thornton moved to the Harbor in 1999 to work at the McCleary Library. She now works at the Hoquiam library. She is on the board of the Hoquiam Lions and is a member of the Hoquiam Business Association. Thornton also works with the Grays Harbor Genealogy Association to teach people how to research their genealogy.

After winning this award, Thornton will qualify for a statewide award, and potentially a national award.
