Man accused of stealing warming car pleads not guilty

A homeless man is accused of stealing a car that was warming up unattended then leading a Washington State Patrol trooper on a chase through Aberdeen.

Jimmy Ray Lowdermilk Jr. pleaded not guilty in Grays Harbor Superior Court Monday to theft of a motor vehicle and attempting to elude a police vehicle.

On Dec. 4, court documents state, Lowdermilk is accused of taking a car running unattended in the 800 block of Essex Avenue. A State Patrol trooper saw the car fail to stop on Alder Street near 1st Street. In a chase, Lowdermilk allegedly drove up onto a sidewalk as he tried to make a right turn onto Lincoln Street, abandoned the car and ran.

A K-9 track led officers to a home about a block away, in the 800 block of West Market Street, where they found Lowdermilk.
