Man stops breathing after food-tray assault

A 57-year-old Aberdeen man stopped breathing after a reported assault Friday afternoon, the Aberdeen Police Department reported.

Officers responded to the 100 block of South Michigan Street at about 2:30 p.m. Friday, as dispatchers helped a person at the home conduct CPR on the victim, Capt. John Green said. The man responded and began breathing on his own.

Officers discovered he was assaulted by another man who allegedly hit him repeatedly on the head with a wooden food tray. The Aberdeen Fire Department responded, treated the man and brought him to Grays Harbor Community Hospital.

The suspect has been identified and is being sought by police, Green said. No name or information about the suspect was released as of Monday.
