Montesano brothers arrested in convenience store burglaries

A 20-year-old Montesano man and his 15-year-old brother were arrested Tuesday after allegedly being involved in two burglaries earlier this year, the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s office reported.

The suspects allegedly broke the front window of the Sunshine Deli, located at Hogan’s Corner, June 16 and entered the store. They stole 18 packs of Icehouse Beer and several individually-wrapped cigarillos, then fled the store and ran north.

The suspects also allegedly broke the front window of the Brady Store June 17, but didn’t enter the store or steal anything.

The Montesano Police Department learned about the suspects Tuesday while investigating an unrelated fraud and theft complaint, and contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Detectives obtained a warrant and searched a Montesano residence, with help from the Montesano Police Department, and found evidence of the crimes.

The 21-year-old was booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail on two counts of second-degree burglary. The 15-year-old was released to his mother, but the Sheriff’s Office is recommending the same charges.

The 15-year-old was also one of four suspects in an April burglary of the Brady Store and received probation. The Sheriff’s Office is recommending that the probation be suspended or reconsidered.
