A motorcyclist had to be taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after he laid down his bike north of Hoquiam.
John H. Reed of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, was headed south on Highway 101 four miles north of Hoquiam when he attempted to pass a vehicle, according to the Washington State Patrol. While in the northbound lane, Reed saw an oncoming vehicle and braked hard enough to lay the motorcyle down, the state patrol reported.
The 53-year-old motorcyclist was taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The accident is still under investigation, according to the state patrol.
