Navy Band Northwest will perform at the Pacific County Fairgrounds, Friday, Aug. 22.
The seven-member Navy band is called the Deception Brass Band and will perform New Orleans’ style music twice on Friday — at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., on the stage near the gate.
Bleachers are available, but you may want to bring your own chair.
The concert is free. Sunday Afternoon Live, an organization that brings artists to the community, arranged for the performance.
Anyone can get into the concert area with no fair pass through the gate by the fair office (behind the fire department), organizers say. Those who are non-seniors and enter through the main part of the fair from the concert must have a pass.
Fair passes are $10 (for all four days of the fair), $5 for one day only, $3 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for preschool age children.
Fair entry on Friday is free to seniors (over 65) and nursing home residents.
Navy Band Northwest’s Deception Brass Band performs for a variety of events and concerts throughout the Northwest. This New Orleans-style group performs many different musical styles.
They range from traditional jazz standards, current rock and funk to New Orleans second-line, the music played by parade bands in the style of traditional dance, often complete with parasols or handkerchiefs waving.
