The Aberdeen High School marching band will be spiffed up in new blue and gold band uniforms next year.
The uniforms will cost $53,992.56 for 130 marching coats, bibber trousers, shakos (or hats) and 10-inch color upright plumes the band wears in the shakos, two plume carriers and three drum major uniforms. The Aberdeen School Board recently approved spending any amount up to $75,000.
“And we came in under that,” said Superintendent Tom Opstad Tuesday. The band just won top honors for U.S. schools with under 1,200 students at the Victoria Day Parade on Vancouver Island.
