The Aberdeen VFW will host a barbecue from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to raise money for the repairs recently completed on the building. A storm caused the Post to close its downtown Aberdeen Building, but repairs are mostly complete and the building is ready for guests. All meals include baked beans, chips and soda — $8 for burgers/$7 for hotdogs. Raffles and a 50/50 drawing are also planned.

You’re going to thank us for this early warning. Remember the Parma and chef Pierre Gabelli? It’s been several years since he closed the downtown Aberdeen restaurant and moved away. Well, he’s back for three days, cooking at Mill 109 at Seabrook. He’ll be there June 3-5. Seating is 5-7:30 p.m., by reservation. Mill 109 is owned by Rob Paylor, who was a sous chef for Pierre. The menu will include some old favorites from the Parma and some new creations just for the occasion.
