In a reversal of the usual vehicle versus pedestrian call, the Aberdeen Police Department responded to the Olympic Gateway Mall parking lot Friday afternoon to find a man in a motorized wheelchair had struck a car.
“It’s a person versus vehicle,” Sgt. Keith Dale said.
No one was seriously injured, although the man was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital as a precaution, Dale said. The car wasn’t seriously damaged. Tracks in the snow showed the wheelchair had apparently veered into the right front tire of a car driven by an 89-year-old Montesano woman.
No one was cited over the incident, although holiday traffic was snarled in the parking lot until officers cleared the scene.
