PUD hires engineering manager

Grays Harbor PUD’s new Engineering Manager Schuyler Burkhart will start work March 31.

Burkhart will fill the position left by chief operating officer Wes Gray, who left the utility in late 2013. Gray performed the duties of an engineering manager. Manager Dave Ward and other PUD engineers have been filling the role for the past few months.

“While I love being an engineer, I’m feeling a little spread thin,” Ward said.

Burkhart will come to Grays Harbor from Tacoma Power, where he served as a senior supervisor in the Transmission &Distribution section. He received his education at Tacoma Community College and the University of Washington, and has worked in the field for about 20 years.

As engineering manager, Burkhart will supervise a 15-person staff and manage engineering work and efficient use of PUD resources.

“I am absolutely thrilled with the addition of Schuyler Burkhart to our Grays Harbor team,” Ward said. “In filling this position, we were looking for a blend of professional excellence, vision and personality.”
