Rezone for former Nordic Inn moves forward

The Aberdeen City Council voted to go forward with an ordinance to allow a rezone for the Nordic Inn, now the Grays Harbor Inn and Suites, in South Aberdeen. The motel will feature student apartments as well as rooms, if approved.

New owner Steven Kang testified briefly during the quasi-judicial public hearing chaired by Mayor Pro Tem Peter Schave. No one spoke in favor or against the rezone.

The rezone, from General Commercial to Commercial Residential, was recommended by the Planning Commission and by Community Development Director Lisa Scott.

An ordinance approving the rezone will be brought before the council at its next meeting on April 23.
