Rezone of inn approved

The Aberdeen City Council approved a request to rezone the former Nordic Inn in South Aberdeen so that the owner can rent apartment units from part of it.

Steven Kang asked to rezone 6.38 acres from General Commercial to Commercial residential. He is remodeling the inn, now called the Grays Harbor Inn and Suites, at 1700 S. Boone St. He and his wife Connie, bought the motel on Dec. 31, 2013.

He is renovating 40 of the inn’s rooms and fashioning another 26 of them into studios and possible tw0-bedroom rental units.

The studios, aimed at college students at Grays Harbor College nearby, will be let for around $700 per month, Kang has said.
