Summit Pacific, banks to help people enroll in health insurance

Summit Pacific Medical Center and local banks will hold a “Banking on Your Health” event to help people sign up for health insurance, from Feb. 10-14, between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day at the center at 600 Main St. in Elma.

The center is partnering with Anchor Bank, Our Community Credit Union, Sterling Bank and Timberland Bank to give citizens the chance to meet with enrollment experts who will answer questions and can enroll people on the spot, a news release states.

The first 100 people to enroll in new coverage, who are not already covered by an insurance plan, will receive a $25 gift certificate they can use as a deposit at any one of the banks.

Attendees need to bring names, birth dates and Social Security or immigration numbers for members of their household. They should also bring last year’s tax return and filing status, a recent pay stub that includes their employer’s address and a current health insurance plan card, if available.

“We understand that there is still a lot of confusion about the enrollment process and hope that this event will help our community get their questions answered, and more importantly receive the insurance coverage they need,” Shauna DePrato, the medical center’s finance manager, said.

Summit Pacific included several resources for people unable to attend, such as the health insurance exchange at www.wahealthplanfinder.org, 1-855-WAFINDER. Harborites can also call grays Harbor County Public health at 360-532-8631, Sea Mar Community Health Centers, 855-289-4503, or the Olympic Area Agency on Aging, 360-532-0520.
