An 18-year-old Aberdeen man is charged with assault after allegedly taking a swing at a police officer while wearing brass knuckles.
Richard A. Young pleaded not guilty to third-degree assault Monday in Grays Harbor Superior Court.
While responding to a theft complaint in which Young was a suspect April 25, an Aberdeen Police Department officer found Young hiding in some bushes on West Wishkah Street. The officer said he chased Young, and while trying to restrain him, dodged a punch. Young was found to be wearing brass knuckles after his arrest. He told officers he didn’t remember when he put them on.
Young is held in Grays Harbor County Jail with $15,000 bail.
