A 16-year old male from Olympia was arrested Tuesday night after leading Ocean Shores Police on a high-speed chase throughout downtown and the beach.
A news release from Sgt. Don Grossi said the call originally came in as a vehicle stuck in the sand earlier in the afternoon.
Grossi responded and the vehicle was gone from the beach when he arrived. A vehicle that matched the description of the stuck vehicle was seen leaving the Ocean Lake Way Beach Approach as Grossi was arriving on scene. Officers were later advised that the vehicle was reported stolen from Olympia, the news release said.
A short time later, Grossi located the same vehicle on the beach spinning circles near the Damon Road beach approach and he stopped it in the parking lot of the Best Western Hotel.
“The vehicle then took off at a high rate, leading officers on a high-speed chase throughout the downtown area and the beach. The chase ended at the end of Chickamin Street in Illahee. The two occupants fled the vehicle into the dune area behind the residence on Chickamin Street. Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Department responded with a K-9 and one of the two subjects was apprehended without incident.”
The 16-year-old was booked into the Grays Harbor Juvenile Detention facility. The second subject, also a juvenile, got away but has been identified and a case will be submitted to the Grays Harbor Prosecutor for charges against him, Grossi said.
