CENTRAL KITSAP — A dog alerted a home’s resident of an early Monday morning fire that damaged the Central Valley Road dwelling. The dog woke the woman up by barking. The woman told crews the dog was upset and wouldn’t go outside. She called 911 and while doing so looked outside and saw a lean-to near the house was on fire. The fire quickly spread to the wall of the main home and into the attic.
Firefighters estimated 40 percent of the double-wide manufactured home was on fire when they arrived at 1:40 a.m.
Fire crews from Bremerton, Poulsbo and Navy Region Northwest also responded. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Kitsap County fire marshal’s office.
The woman has family in the area and was making arrangements with them to find a new place to stay.
