Arnold J. Schmidt

On Saturday April 5, 2014, Arnold J. Schmidt, of Montesano, passed away peacefully at the Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was 89. Arnold was born on June 1, 1924, in Montesano, to Alfred and Mayme Schmidt( Bryant) and was raised his whole life in Montesano. On June 27, 1952, he married the love of his life Neva Valentine in Montesano and spent 62 great years together.

Arnold enjoyed hunting, reading, woodworking, traveling and was an avid outdoorsman. He belonged to numerous clubs including the Aberdeen Elks and Eagles and the National Rifle Association. He worked as a welder for 20 years at Harbor Machine and Fabrication in Hoquiam.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Neva of the family home; and a sister, Katie Patterson of Montesano. He was preceeded in death by his parents; and a brother, Donald” Willie ” Schmidt.

There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m., on Friday April 11, 2014, at the Wynooche Cemetery in Montesano. Following the graveside service there will be a gathering of family and friends at the Montesano Church of God at 12 noon.
