Lifelong Aberdeen resident, Carey Lynn Trader, 58, died at his home on Thursday, March 6, 2014, after a long illness. Carey was born in Aberdeen, on April 24, 1955, to Harry, Sr. and Gloria (Main) Trader, and attended Aberdeen schools.
In 1973, he married Vicki Schlaht and she survives him at the family home.
Carey had worked for Grays Harbor Plywood and worked and was later manager, of Selmer’s Furniture Store until ill health forced his retirement.
He had belonged to the Montesano Moose and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, anything outdoors, as well as bowling. Throughout his illness the family said he had been a good father.
Besides his wife, Vicki, Carey is survived by a son, Kurt and wife, Heather Trader of Aberdeen; a daughter, Krissie and husband, Travis Bartholomew of Aberdeen; four brothers, Howard Melvin Olson of California, Jerry Olson of Hoquiam, Harry and wife, Candy Trader of Aberdeen, Martin and wife, Claudia Trader of Aberdeen; a sister, Caroline Trader; four grandchildren, Brody and Ethan Trader, Ashton Brooks and Brycen Nguyen. A brother, Ed Olson, preceded Carey in death.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Aberdeen with Pastor Val Metropoluos officiating. A potluck reception will follow in the church parish hall.
