Connie M. Banner of Cosmopolis went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, while at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. She was born on July 2, 1947, in Shelton, Wash., to William R. and Dorothy Ells (Dorland). Connie graduated from Shelton High School in 1965. She continued her education at Seattle Pacific College where she graduated in 1970 as a registered nurse.
Connie married David Banner on Aug. 14, 1970, and in 1973, they moved to Grays Harbor. They became proud parents in May of 1978, when they adopted their beautiful daughter, Janette Banner.
Connie had worked in Seattle from 1970 to 1973, Grays Harbor Community Hospital from 1973 to 1981 and then Grays Harbor Department of Social and Health Services from 1981 until retiring in 2009.
She attended Pacific Beach Community Church and was involved with AquaNotes, and Grays Harbor Christian Women’s Connection. Connie played the recorder and loved music.
In addition to her devoted husband, David, Connie is survived by a daughter, Janette Banner of Los Angeles; a brother and his wife, Bill and Linda Ells; brother-in-law, Harry Wells; sister-in-law, Linda Cole; and two brothers-in-law and their wives, Brad and Jeanette Banner and Mike and Karin Banner. The extended family includes numerous cousins, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Connie was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Wells.
Connie was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was a friend to all and be be greatly missed.
A celebration of Connie’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at South Aberdeen Baptist Church, 620 Fordney St. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Pacific Beach Community Church Mission Project or South Aberdeen Baptist Church Roof Project.
