Edna Mae (Youckton) Bruce, born on July 27, 1942, to Jessie and Clarence Youckton of Oakville passed on April 30, 2014, in Tacoma General Hospital.
She is survived by brothers, Melvin , Dennis and Dean, Sisters; Linda, Lorilee, Dora and Mae, Gloria. Children are Kenny, Gary and Kathy, Clarissa & Rueben, Sam, Harvey, Jeslin and Javier and Chris & Erika, 11 Grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, several cousins, Nieces & Nephews who knew her as “Auntie Ed.”
Edna attended school in Oakville and college courses in Olympia. She worked as a clerical aide in the Capitol offices in Olympia as well as a case worker in Social Services of Quinault Indian Nation. She also worked at Lucky Eagle in Soft Count. As a young mother she also did several field jobs in canneries, hay fields and berry picking. Edna enjoyed family time the most but took an active part in weaving, bingo, bowling, reading, travelling and believed in our Indian Shaker Church.
Candlelight services will be held at the Oakville Shaker Church on Sunday evening, May 4, 2014, at 4 p.m., 7 p.m., 10 p.m. and midnight. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 5, at the Oakville Shaker Church. Interment will be at the Oakville Reservation Cemetery.
