Long time Aberdeen resident Elizabeth (Betty) Joan Salmon passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014, in Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 90. Betty was born March 3, 1924, in Aberdeen, to Nelson and Grace (Arveson) Lambert. She graduated from Aberdeen Weatherwax High School in 1942. On September 15, 1945, Betty married Leonard James Salmon at the First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen and they later divorced. Betty had worked for Casey Hardware, Harbor Hardware, John Walker Distributing, Hulbert Distributing, J.C. Penny Co. and Village Concepts. Betty was a member of the Aberdeen Presbyterian Church, Soroptimist Club, and was an Elks National Band Mother. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting.
Betty is survived by her three sons, Ronald (Gloria) of Aberdeen, Patrick (Ms. Pat) of Berkley, Calif., and Richard (Annis) Salmon of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Grace Lambert and sister Geraldine Lambert Shangler.
A graveside service will held at 12 p.m. on Monday March 24, 2014 at Fern Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her honor to the First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen.
