Emerson L. Urquilla, 35 and a resident of Aberdeen died unexpectedly on Friday, February 7, 2014, at his home.
Emerson was born on October 27, 1978, in Ciudad Dolores Cabanas, El Salvador, to Victor M. and Antonia (Abarca) Urquilla. He was raised in El Salvador and attended school there. The family moved to Wenatchee where he graduated from high school.
Following high school he went to work for Mill Bay Casino at Manson, Wash. In 2001, he and Jackie moved to Ocean Shores and then to Aberdeen in 2003. Emerson went to work for the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino in 2001, and was employed there at the time of his death working in surveillance.
Emerson loved to smoke food, barbecuing and the outdoors. He loved his family and the people he met. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and collected toys especially Star Wars.
Emerson is survived by his wife, Jackie of the family home; son, Alexander Urquilla of Aberdeen; daughters, Zoe Urquilla of Aberdeen and Elizabeth Romero of Wenatchee; parents, Victor and Marina Urquilla of Wenatchee; sister, Vanessa Urquilla of Wenatchee; brother, Corey Murdock, Jr. of Aberdeen; grandmothers, Ines Urquilla and Marcos Abarca both of El Salvador. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Leonardo Urquilla in 1993 and Karl Wyssen in 2012.
Celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m., on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at the Simpson Plaza, 220 - 5th Street, Hoquiam, Washington.
Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary of Hoquiam.
