Franklin Wayne Hollatz, 70, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2013, in Port Angeles, surrounded by family. He was born on June 2, 1943, in Shelton, to Frank “Hap” & Velma Hollatz.
He is survived by his daughter, Julianne (Jeffrey) Shaw of Tulalip and daughter, Michelle Hollatz of Port Angeles. He is also survived by his mother, Velma Hollatz; sister, Virginia (Tom) Brannian; and brothers, James (Donna) and Robert (Jeanne) Hollatz as well as many nieces and nephews.
Wayne graduated from Mary M. Knight School as valedictorian in 1961, attended Grays Harbor Community College for two years and received his teaching degree from Western Washington University. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army from 1966-1969. He worked as a sound engineer for Boeing for 32 years, receiving many achievements of honor including patents. He was also active in running the family farm & involved in Washington Farm Forestry Association.
Some of his passions included farming, hiking, traveling, dancing and spending time with his family & friends. The purpose & conviction of how he lived his life will always be remembered. He will be deeply missed by all. Viewing will be held at Whiteside Family Mortuary located at 316 W Young St, Elma, WA on Saturday, January 11,2014, from 10 am-12 pm. His funeral will be held at Grove Cemetery in Matlock, WA located at Matlock Brady Road on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 1 pm. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Washington Farm Forestry Association and/or the Olympic Medical Center Foundation.
