Howard I. Trissel, a Montesano resident passed away on January 7, 2014, at the age of 90. Howard was born on August 26, 1923, in Salem, Ore., to Chester and Helen Trissel.
He grew up in Ryderwood, Wash., where he graduated from High School.
He joined the Coast Guard and served in the South Pacific during WWII.
Over the years, Howard was employed as a logger, fisherman, a carpenter and in the Shake Industry retiring from Ocean Spray.
Howard was married to Sylvia Tillson on December 31, 1984. Together they enjoyed gardening, fishing, clam digging and traveling.
Howard was a lifetime member of the VFW, the Carpenter Local, and TWA Logging.
Howard is survived by his two daughters; a son; seven grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Sylvia.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2014, at Fern Hill Cemetery with full Military Honors. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Montesano Senior Center or the GH Fire District #2.
