James Winton Thompson II of Elma, WA (born May 25th, 1931) passed away peacefully at age 82 on Friday, January 13th, 2014 surrounded by family in Lacey, WA. He served in the Navy after graduating from Tenino High School. He met his wife Beverly in Seattle after his service in the Navy. They have been married for 58 years. They raised three of their own children and two nieces. Jim worked for Otis Elevator in Seattle and State Street Auto Wrecking in Aberdeen before taking a job with IBEW in Aberdeen, where he remained until retiring. He enjoyed a lifetime of trout and steelhead fishing, deer hunting, and western novels and films.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Maude and Harold Thompson; his siblings: Beverly Hatten and Jerry Thompson; and his grandson, James Thompson IV.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Thompson; his children: Darci Palmer, Connie Hull, and James Thompson III; his grandchildren: Jason Palmer, Leslie Palmer, Francesca Vaughan, and Isabella Hull; his nieces: Destiny and Darcey Kukes; and his great-grandchildren: Hunter, Violette, Arianna, and Nadia.
A private graveside ceremony of family will be held on Fern Hill in Raymond, WA, followed by a celebration of life at the McCleary Hotel, address 300 N. Summit Rd on Wednesday, January 23rd at 1:30 pm.
