After a long good life, Jean Chiveney passed away in St. Peter’s Hospital on Monday, July 14, 2014.
She joins her loving husband of 51 years, John Joseph Chvieney, who passed in 2009.
Dedicated nurse, loving mother, master housewife, Jean was very involved in the funding of the then new Elma Library, having served on its board for many years. The library gave her great joy and her memorial will be held there this Sunday, July 20th at 12:00 p.m.Jean was a dedicated Mariners fan and rabid follower of Edgar Martinez. She graduated from Hahnemann Hospital’s Nursing school in 1951, where she learned to make a bed you could bonce a quarter off off. Living in Elma, or as she pronounced it with her Boston accent “Elmer’ where was often seen driving her “Honder” around town since 1987.
Please in lieu of flowers, donate a book to the Elma Library. She’d love that.
Ma, you are in our hearts forever.
Jean Is survived by her three children, John (Jay) Chiveney; Marcia Hallam (her daughter Elinor (Ellie) Hallam); and Joseph Chiveney and wife Cathy Visser.
