Phillip L. “Mac” McCully Jr.

Phillip C. “Mac” McCully Jr., 69, of Elma, passed away on January 12, 2014, in Tacoma. Mac was born in Elma on July 2, 1944, and lived his entire life in Grays Harbor. He worked at the Simpson Door in McCleary, and retired from there.

He will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help any friend in need. He was full of stories and enjoyed making people laugh.

He was always in the stands cheering during wrestling, powerlifting and other sporting events throughout the years.

He loved his animals: his dogs, cats and horses. He was involved in many horse clubs in the Grays Harbor area including McCleary Riders, Back Country Horsemen and helped out with the Elma 4-H kids. He always lent a helping hand whenever a horse related event was happening.

He was extremely proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Elma Eagles.

Proceeded in death by his parents, Phil and Emogene McCully; brother, Steve McCully; and brother-in-law, Orb Metheny.

He is survived by his son, Torey (Colette) McCully of Olympia; daughter, Kelsey Baley of Kaneohe, Hawaii; sisters, Sharla (Tony) Mauhar of Olympia, Laurie McCully of Wilsonville, Ore., and Shelley (Tom) Little of Shelton; Also five grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas, Kyndal, Landon and Trew; four great grandchildren

A memorial will be at 1 p.m., on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the McCleary VFW. Suggested donations to the Western and Central Chapter of the Washington State Alzheimer’s Association, or to a local 4-H program.
