Longtime Grays Harbor resident Richard James Meneely, 62, passed quietly on April 8, 2014 at Providence Hospital in Olympia from lung cancer.
Born in Pontiac, Michigan, Richard moved to Grays Harbor with his family at age 16 and has lived here since.
At age 19 Richard started working as a logger. For 13 years he worked for various logging outfits and learned most jobs, Rigging Slinger being his favorite. After his second logging accident, and several surgeries, he had to retire from that industry. He later became an Independent Carrier and worked the last 12-plus years delivering in the Ocean Shores area.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy, daughter Rikki, sons Jeremy, Jason, Anthony and Matthew, 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Also, a sister Rosetta, and brothers Randy, Rocky, Rodney, Rex and an extra-large extended family.
A potluck celebration of life will be held at Jason’s home on May 18 at 2 p.m. at 112 Reynvann Drive in Central Park.
