Robert William Bell, 59 years of age and a lifetime Harborite, died on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at his Aberdeen home following an extended illness. He was born on May 31, 1954, in Aberdeen, Washington to Lester William and Shirley Ann (Wilder) Bell.
He received his early education in Cosmopolis, Aberdeen and Kake, Alaska. He entered the military service with the U.S. Marine Corps and then the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharges he returned to the Harbor area and began working in the woods as a logger and landing supervisor. A serious logging accident, when he was 22, forced him to quit working. He was able to do a limited amount of activities.
He enjoyed watching televised sporting events. He attempted stock car racing and had limited success. He enjoyed watching races at Elma, Port Angeles and NASCAR on TV.
He resided in Westport for a time and there he attended an area church.
Robert Bell is survived by his son, Steven G. Bell of Lake Tapps; his father, Lester W. Bell of Montesano; two grandchildren, Shelby Grave Bell and Wyatt Leo Bell both of Lake Tapps; his brothers, Scott Bell in Montana, Dave Bell of Westport, Jeff Bell of Tacoma; a step-brother, Bruce Jones of Brady; two step-sisters, Jennifer Henslee of Algona and Cheryl Hart in Michigan and other relatives.
There will be no formal funeral service.
Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 5th Street, Hoquiam, Wash. 98550.
