Russell L. McClintick Jr. 1949-2014

Russell Louis McClintick Jr. of Grayland, Wash., passed on Aug. 14, 2014, after an eight-month battle with cancer.

Russ was born May 9, 1949, in Kirkland, Wash., as the oldest child of Russell and Freddie Anne McClintick. He graduated from Lake Washington High School in 1967, and, after graduating from the University of Washington, he served in the US Air Force.

He married in 1973, and settled in Kirkland, Wash. He was employed as a firefighter for the City of Kirkland for 26 years.

Russ was very active in his community. Of the plethora of activities he gave his time to, some memorable examples include teaching the Young Astronauts program for Rose Hill Elementary and singing in the choir at Lake Washington United Methodist Church.

In 2003, Russ moved with his wife Patricia to Grayland, Wash., where, again, his community involvement defined his vision of giving. In 2005, Russ began working as the Director of South Beach Fire and EMS.

Russ is survived by his father, Russell Sr.; his wife, Patricia; his three children, Anna Marie Heckman, Russell III and Jonathan; his sisters Patti Hebert and Mary Menard and his three grandchildren, Myles Heckman, and Evelynn and Nathaniel McClintick.

Russ was a vibrant, strong individual with a passion for learning and a love for life. He will be dearly missed.

A memorial and celebration of his life will be held on Monday, Aug. 25, at 3 p.m. at Ocosta Jr/Sr High School in Westport. The school is located at 2580 S. Montesano St., one block west of the Westport “Y.”
