Steven A. Hyde, 51 and a resident of Aberdeen, died on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, in Aberdeen. He was born on March 9, 1962, in Hoquiam, to Noble E. and Vera B. (Hurr) Hyde.
Steven attended the Hoquiam schools and graduated from Hoquiam High School. During high school he had worked for Casa Mia in Hoquiam. Following high school he worked as an apprentice plumber and then as a logger for gypo loggers in the area until retiring due to a accident.
He then became a coach and had coached T-Ball, Pop Warner Football, Double A and Triple A Baseball, Little League Baseball, Girls Fast Pitch and Wrestling. He also coached Girls Fast Pitch at Grays Harbor College.
He loved the outdoors and was called Grizzley Adams. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking. He also liked working with his hands, doing wood working, gardening and cooking.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and American Association of Retired Persons.
Steven was married to April Mae Violette in 2010, at Wynooche Wildwood and she survives at the family home. Also surviving is a daughter, Nicole Derk in the US Military; sons, Mark Hyde and Zach Hyde both of Aberdeen; stepson, Eric Menzemer of Olympia; stepdaughter, Aisha Menzemer of Olympia; and a brother, Chris Hyde of Hoquiam.
A Celebration of His Life will be at 5 p.m., on Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Rotary Log Pavilion in Aberdeen.
Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 - 5th Street in Hoquiam.
